Newborn

0–3 Months

From the moment your baby arrives, you need the essentials: feeding supplies, safe sleep solutions, and gentle care products. Here's what every newborn parent actually needs.

What You Need to Know: Newborn

Expert guidance from AAP, WHO, and CPSC — practical tips every parent needs

Feeding (Breast or Formula)

The AAP recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months. Whether you're nursing or formula-feeding, stock up on bottles, nipples (slow flow for newborns), and a quality breast pump if pumping. Start with 4-6 bottles minimum — you'll be washing a lot.

Safe Sleep

Follow the ABCs: Alone, on their Back, in a Crib. Use a firm, flat sleep surface. Swaddles and sleep sacks keep baby warm without loose blankets. The AAP recommends room-sharing (not bed-sharing) for at least the first 6 months.

Bonding & Development

Newborns can only see 8-12 inches — your face is their favorite thing. High-contrast black and white cards support vision development. Tummy time should start from day one, even if just for 3-5 minutes at a time.

Health & Safety

A baby monitor gives peace of mind during naps. Keep a rectal thermometer and saline drops on hand. Umbilical cord care: keep the area clean and dry until the stump falls off naturally (usually 1-3 weeks). Never use cotton swabs inside the ear canal.
